  • Top Quality - We Never Cut Corners

At GlassesEtc.com, we not only offer a substantial savings to your local Optician (often up to 50% off), but we only use quality "branded" lenses such as Hoya & Varilux. Our online competitors often "cast" or make their own lenses. This results in cheaper lenses that can compromise your vision and lead to inaccuracies. Thus, it's very important to select a web based optical store that you can trust. Our Opticians have years of experience in the business, having worked with some of the most high profile residents of New York City - who expect the best.

Our most satisfied customers have often had the most aggressive prescription needs. Our progressive (no-line bifocal) work and the savings we can provide, is what we are best known for. All of our rimless prescription orders are completed directly by the manufacturers for us, ensuring you receive the best mounting for your rimless frames.

Contact Us At 212-535-4022 or 888-535-4022 to discuss your exact prescription needs and to get help with placing your order today.

    Prescriptions - 4 easy steps!

Completing your prescription with us is easy! Just follow these simple steps:

    (1) On any product page, use the Prescription Lens pull-down bar to select the lens options of your choice. If you are not sure which lens type your prescription requires please select "Call To Discuss" and one of our representatives will be happy to call you.

    (2) Fax or Email us your prescription including your "PD" or Pupillary Distance. Your current Optician will have your full prescription and PD on file. If necessary, you can easily calculate your "PD" at home. Simply visit our Buyer's Guide for more details.

    (3) After receiving your prescription, we will contact you to discuss your lens options if necessary.

    (4) Your order is complete! We will fill your order and we will have your prescription on file for all future orders!

    Prescriptions - Our Lab

GlassesEtc.com completes all prescription orders at our in-house lab which is staffed by opticians with over 25 years of experience. We only use high quality name-brand lenses, such as Hoya and Varilux, both leaders in providing quality lenses throughout the United States. Our senior in-house opticians take the time to ensure a perfect lens match for each individual prescription and frame order, so your lenses are custom made specifically for your needs. We also offer a 100% guarantee that your prescription lenses will be made according to the information you provide us. Below are some examples of the high quality lens options we offer:

    Hoya Summit ECP/CD

Hoya's motto is "Science You Can See", which is a promise of real technological innovation in proprietary lens materials, advanced optical designs and superior lens finishes. Hoya's exclusive Integrated Transmittance Control (ICT) technology in their Summit ECP/CD Progressive Lenses allow for maximum visual field by providing perfect placement of the reading area. The Summit ECP/CD lenses also provide the greatest number of variants of any other progressive lens design, allowing for a more customized fit, even in small frame designs.

    Varilux, Physio

Since 1959, with the invention of the world's first progressives, Varilux has innovated lens science to advance and set new standards of performance for vision and vision care. Varilux/Physio Progressive Lenses are the only lenses proven to increase contrast sensitivity - the ability to see visual details and colors - in all fields of vision. Physio lenses improve contrast sensitivity by up to 30%, providing optimal depth, clarity and dimension for progressive lenses. Improved contrast sensitivity makes a difference in:
    - driving at night
    - reading the newspaper
    - experiencing vivid colors, such as in a bouquet of beautiful flowers

To determine if a sunglass frame is Rxable, simply look for the "Rx Lens Options" pull-down menu on any product page. The menu will include all lens options and the pricing structure for the different lens types.

Higher index lenses are thinner and are typically visually more appealing. As your prescription strength increases, you need to move to a higher index lens. For more information, and for a comparison of the different lens options, visit the Buyer's Guide.
